When I was trying my hands on making mediterranean food at home, tahini was something that I heard for the first time. I rushed to my local super market to get it. When I opened the jar of tahini paste to taste it I immediately recognized the taste, it was sesame seeds. They are used in many gujarati recipes and I kind of put little extra then what is required. I love that nutty flavor of toasted sesame seeds. I was really surprised to know how easy it was to make tahini paste and since then I have never ever bought it from the store. Well, making it home gives me assurance that it is fresh, olive oil and sesame seeds used to make the paste are very good quality.
So quick and simple to make, tahini paste is simply sesame seeds that are toasted and ground up with olive oil to make a paste. I always have it on hand to use it in recipes like Hummus and Tahini sauce.
